Bio

Ólafur Andri Ragnarsson has the faculty position adjunct and has been on the faculty of Reykjavík University School of Science and Engineering, Department of Computer Science since 1989. On fall term, he teaches a course on Software Design and Implementation, and on spring term, a course called New technology, covering trends in technology.

In 1993, Ólafur Andri co-founded a software company called Margmiðlun. The goal of the company was to create e-commerce solutions. The focus of the company became centered around Internet Services and in 2004, the company was one of the largest ISPs in the Iceland telecom market, offering Internet services and fixed line telephone services. The company was acquired by telecom Og Vodafone in 2004.

Ólafur Andri started working in the gaming sector in 1987 working as a part-time operator for Icelandic Soccer Pools, a sports betting company. In 1995, as Development Manager at Margmiðlun, he managed a project to offer Internet Betting on the Internet. This became the first Internet betting solution world-wide. Following this project, the shareholders of Margmidlun founded a company called Betware to develop and market betting solutions. Currently, Ólafur Andri also holds the position of Chief Software Architect at Betware,

Ólafur Andri has a board position at Margmiðlun Eignarhaldsfélag, a holding company which owns Betware. He sits on the board of start-up company Gogogic.
