Ólafur Andri Ragnarsson is a serial entrepreneur who founded his first company at the dawn of the Internet revolution in 1993, an e-commerce company that pivoted into an ISP with an exit in 2004. Founded Betware, a technical vendor in the lottery industry, in 1998. Ólafur Andri was the Chief Software Architect and took part in developing the platform used by the company to successfully launch digital solutions of several lotteries around the world. Betware was sold to Novomatic Group in 2013, renamed Novomatic Lottery Solutions, and is the leading technology vendor in the industry today.
Ólafur Andri has the faculty position adjunct and has been on the faculty of Reykjavík University School of Computer Science since 1989. On fall term, he teaches a course on Software Design and Implementation. This shows how to build high performance enterprise applications, as told by an architect that actually builds them in the real world. On spring term, a course called New technology, covering emerging trends in technology. This course is more of a business oriented course that focuses on how technology impacts business. Again, as told by a someone how runs a business in a highly disrupting business environment.
Currently, Ólafur Andri works as a Digital Transformation consultant to both startups and established companies.
